The Onnit Academy is a world renowned fitness facility that places a heavy emphasis on unconventional training.
I spent a day working out at their facility and enjoyed the opportunity to play around with all of their products and tools.
CrossFit, at its core is a strength and conditioning programmed designed to make one better at performing general tasks. Hence its importance in the realm of general physical preparedness or GPP.
The ascension of the CrossFit Games has led many aspiring athletes to move away from a generalists program to one aimed at making it through the qualification ladder and ultimately the CrossFit Games.

The history of America is filled with great leaders. Leaders that had vision, determination, charisma, and the ability to move people. Some were gifted speakers that moved people emotionally. Others infused a sense of purpose into people that got them to move physically.
The most prominent advocate of physical action was the barrel chested Teddy Roosevelt. He encouraged Americans to endure physical hardships, often recommending that one partake in a strenous life. He dispised laziness and those people that simply existed in the world without any pressing purpose. When it comes to physical preparedness, nothing is quite as important as becoming strong first. It is the essential component of physical development and is often lost in the enormous stacks of garbage information that say otherwise.
Because stronger people are harder to kill. When all things are equal, like skill or ability, then the stronger person/ athlete/ fighter will win. Mark Rippetoe, one of the most respected developers of strength, stated this fact ever so keenly.
